Welcome

I am a photographer who believes that an artist's work must be good consistently to be considered as an art. One must have ‘eyes like a shutter and mind like a lens’!!.... I always ‘work for a cause, not applause…I live life to express, not impress’!!

From my early days, I have been interested in various kinds of sports, trekking and travelling but it was only in 2003 that I stepped into the world of photography. During a trek to the Annapurna Base Camp – Nepal I got interested in photography. From this time forth this passion became an integral part of my life.

According to me a photographer must be technically competent to use the various techniques to change a photograph from a mere snap to a “snapshot of someone’s life”. Photographs can be used to narrate a story, and thus should not cater to the aesthetic aspect only. Despite my hectic working hours at a  Kolkata-based company, the passion for photography remains undiminished.

Come, visualize and live with me the jazz and indignation for photography…Let our words be few…exposures many!!

My Latests
Home Is Here And Now…

The lion share of my photographic career has been spent in capturing people. I have come across the human species of different characteristic, speaking different languages, living different life style. Every time I had different experience. But in all the cases, life has amazed me.

On my first trip to Ladakh, in 2014, when I visited Karzok, I couldn't explore much of the place and its people because of the altitude sickness. Yet, amidst that breathtaking beauty of the valley by the Tso Moriri, I did not miss to notice the presence of the nomadic people. Though I tried, but I was not satisfied to capture their life much and I had to come back here for more .

On my third trip to this stunning place, I got to spend two days there and of course, I was prepared. The wandering tribe of Chumthung plateau lives in makeshift arrangement scattered over a large chunk of the valley. The rugged land is not easy to be trodden on, while the altitude is a big challenge. I was on my mission early in the morning, to catch a glimpse of their day. Some of them were quite welcoming, while some were not. I roamed around and started to interact with them and all this while kept on documenting their way of living. I saw them busy milking the herd, skinning them for wool. I waited till the evening to see them come back from the pasture with their herd. I was amazed to see the women climbing up and down the hill  with the animals at ease and laughed at our urban, corporate fitness. Seeing a woman getting supply from the nearby market accompanied by three kids and two donkeys will never fade from my memory. Rather I plan to visit again and spend more time with these free souls.

While other people grow their roots, these roamers grow their wings. Looking through the viewfinder, I saw them taking on life with smiles while their friendliness and warmth extended to me reiterated in my ears, live life to express, not to impress.

Rather I plan to visit again and spend  more time with these  free soul ….
